Outback Gold Mine

Come on a virtual photographic journey with us and see a small working gold mine in the outback, and an old timer work his mine and extract and melt down his gold. This is a privately owned mine, so we can't take you there, but there are lots of old mines to see in the Murchison goldfields.

Of course, unless you plan to become a miner yourself, most of the gold you find with your metal detectors will be in the form of nuggets. You'll just dig them up where the detector indicates, and they'll be solid little lumps of golden gleaming joy.

There really is gold out there.... some people find nuggets almost straight away. Some day we will find the "big one", but we will never ever give up gold prospecting.... it's in our blood.
