The Gold Hunters

John and Carol McKrill, the proprietors of Pioneer Prospecting and Outback Supplies in Mount Magnet, come from a family of gold prospectors, so the gold fever was bound to rub off.

They love being in the bush and have searched for gold in many different areas of Western Australia, taking their trusty Minelab metal detectors with them.

Just stop in and ask them anything you need to know about detecting and camping out in the bush; they will be happy to share their knowledge and a cuppa with you.

Gold fossicking is a big part of our lives and we'd like to share some of our own photos with you.

Search For Gold Day Tours 2008

During the 2008 season we will be holding day tours, where we take you out into gold country and show you how to use your metal detectors. Those of you who already know a thing or two about prospecting can get started straight away.

You will have a lot of fun, as well as learn a lot about the practical side of searching for the fabulous yellow stuff that sets detectors beeping and hearts racing. Tours will be on a booking basis only, so no set dates will be made. Click here for gold prospecting tours

Prospecting And Camping Gear

Get everything you need for your prospecting / camping trips as well as hard-wearing work clothing like Hard Yakka and many other great camping and gift ideas.

For the miners and prospectors we have spare parts, and brand new metal (gold) detectors, second hand Minelab and GoldSnoop detectors, Coiltek coils, picks and shovels for digging, gold pans and nugget cases, GPS equipment so you don't get lost in the goldfields, and much more.

For those camping out we have the gear you need to set up a camp, such as cooking utensils for your camp kitchen, little gadgets to make life easier, Coleman water coolers and eskys, even bush clothing like hats, pants, boots and sox that are tough enough to take what you'll dish out.

We only stock the best gear available to us, so you don't have to waste precious time fixing stuff, rather than looking for gold. If we don't have what you need in stock we can usually have it in our store overnight for you.

Happy Gold Hunting!

John and Carol
